German clubs Mainz and Werder Bremen, as well as Swiss club Basel, are monitoring the 26-year-old Ukrainian centre-back Oleksandr Romanchuk. An offer for the defender from Dynamo Kyiv to his club, Universitatea Craiova, was rejected because the Romanian club's owner wants to maintain the squad for the Champions League qualification campaign. Romanchuk has one cap for Ukraine and joined his current club in July 2025 for a fee reported to be €750,000. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €2.50m. In May 2026, it was reported that Universitatea Craiova's asking price for the defender was €3 million. A month prior, a fee between €2 million and €3 million was reportedly under discussion with Werder Bremen.
