SC Paderborn 07 has made Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant its seventh new signing for the upcoming season. It was revealed by Coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz that Awortwie-Grant did not want to sign a contract for the 2nd Bundesliga last summer.

Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant, a 25-year-old German-Ghanaian central defender, will move from Energie Cottbus to SC Paderborn this summer as the club prepares its squad for the upcoming Bundesliga season. The 1.93-meter-tall player joined Cottbus in July 2025. The transfer is reportedly free because his contract with Energie Cottbus, which was originally valid until 2027, was voided after the team's promotion to the second division. SC Paderborn's Sporting Director, Sebastian Lange, stated that Awortwie-Grant had attracted attention due to his outstanding performances in the previous third-division season. Lange described Awortwie-Grant as a fast, agile, and strong-tackling defender who possesses significant potential to develop and establish himself in the Bundesliga. The length of his contract was not disclosed by the club. His market value is currently listed as €400k by Transfermarkt.
