According to Tuttomercato, Aston Villa has decided not to exercise the purchase option for Nicolò Zaniolo. In the summer following February 2023, Zaniolo moved on loan with an option to buy to Aston Villa. He made 39 appearances and scored three goals. At the end of the season the Birmingham club decided not to exercise the option.

In the 2023/2024 season, Zaniolo played for Aston Villa on loan from Galatasaray with a semi-obligatory purchase option of around 30 million euros. He played 39 matches, scoring three goals without providing any assists.
