PAOK has submitted an offer and is in negotiations for 27-year-old Uruguayan-Italian defensive midfielder Nicolás Fonseca. The proposal was made to Group Pachuca, which owns Fonseca's club León, and is for a one-year loan with an option to buy. However, the Mexican side wants the purchase option to be mandatory. Nacional from Uruguay has also made an approach for the player but is reportedly in a less favorable position. Fonseca spent the second half of the previous season on loan at Oviedo, where he made 19 appearances in LaLiga. Fonseca, who joined León in January 2025, has a contract that runs until the end of 2028. He has been capped six times by the Uruguayan national team and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €3.00m.
