Újpest has announced that Nejc Gradisar will join the team on loan from Al-Ahly for the spring season. Újpest has an option to purchase Nejc Gradisar's rights at a later date.

According to Cairo 24, Al Ahly has given Nejc Gradisar permission to travel to Budapest, so the striker's transfer to Újpest could be completed soon. The Egyptian club had previously delayed the transfer, an agreed six-month loan with a purchase option, because they had not found a replacement. The outlet reports that Al Ahly has now reached an agreement with Norwegian club Tromsø to loan Angolan player Kamwesh for six months. This has removed all obstacles to Gradisar's move. Gradisar is no longer in Al Ahly's plans for the match against Young Africans. The player posted a photo on a plane, writing that a new chapter is beginning in his life, saying goodbye to Al Ahly fans, and adding a Hungarian flag emoji.

According to foreign press reports, Nejc Gradisar could join Újpest FC for the spring season. However, Slovenian press reports suggest it is possible that the deal might not be finalized, due to a forward from the NB I league. Al Ahly has indicated they are willing to let the Slovenian attacker go to Europe, but only if they first find a suitable replacement. Until then, the player has to wait for approval.
