Nahir Besara: Hammarby Contract Extension
According to information from Sportbladet, Nahir Besara has reached an agreement with Hammarby on a new contract, which is expected to be officially announced by next week at the latest. The contract is for a total of two years. Hammarby's sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg was open about the fact that the club was close to extending with Nahir Besara. The remaining issue in the discussions was what role the 34-year-old would have in the club after his career. Besara is expected to have a role in the sports organization after his playing career, where it is expected that he will work alongside and support the current sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg, although the exact responsibilities have not yet been finalized. The player's representative, Jimmy Hermez, stated it is no secret that they are talking about Nahir's future at Hammarby and that they will see what happens and if anything is finalized in the near future.
Sportchef Mikael Hjelmberg confirms that Hammarby is going to offer 34-year-old Swedish midfielder Nahir Besara a new contract. Hjelmberg says: 'We will do that. We had a chat last week. We have been traveling all week, so I just got here. But we will follow up on that conversation.' Hjelmberg explains that there are reasons why it has been delayed. He says: 'It's not just about discussing a contract, it's a bit bigger than that. What will he do the day he stops and things like that. That could have been related to the extension. He might be able to work with some sports management issues, scouting, or be part of a coaching team. These are some of the things we are discussing and you don't sew that up in a jiffy.' Besara's current contract is set to expire on December 31, 2025, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €600k. The player has also been linked with Legia Warszawa.
