Southampton's 19-year-old midfielder Moses Sesay has joined League Two side Colchester United on a season-long loan. The move follows comments the midfielder made to the Daily Echo last week, in which he stated his goal for the season was to play first-team football and that he was ready for the opportunity, whether at Southampton or elsewhere. Sesay, who joined Southampton from Chelsea in 2023 and signed a professional contract until 2028, made his senior debut a year ago in a Carabao Cup tie but has not had any further first-team appearances, scoring four goals and providing three assists for the under-21s last season. Colchester manager Danny Cowley confirmed he was pleased to bring in Sesay for his first loan, describing him as a gifted player who can play in numerous attacking positions and adding that the club would work with him on his play against the ball. Sesay is the second Southampton youngster to join Colchester on loan this calendar year. The midfielder, who holds both English and Nigerian citizenship, has earned four caps and scored one goal for the England U18 team.
