Smith may not be offered regular game time at Preston North End anymore, which is a reason why he may depart. If Preston North End sign another striker or two, Smith would be pushed further down the team's hierarchy. He has entered the final 12 months of his contract with Preston North End and is due to become a free agent in June 2027.
