Michael Kostka's contract with Miedź Legnica is set to expire on June 30 and will not be renewed. Tomasz Włodarczyk from Meczyki.pl reported that Kostka is expected to join Rot-Weiss Essen, a club in the German 3rd league, on a free transfer. Last season, Rot-Weiss Essen secured eighth place in the 3rd Bundesliga, gathering 56 points across 38 matches. Kostka, who was born in Hannover and has Polish ancestry, has been involved with both German and Polish junior national teams. He joined Miedź Legnica in 2022 and has made 91 appearances, including 27 in the Ekstraklasa and another 27 in the I liga last season, during which he scored once. He notably scored an impressive goal in the playoff semi-final against Wisła Kraków.
