The club's sporting director, Daniel Stucki, had previously stated that they needed to strengthen their offense. Gregoritsch, who currently plays for Brøndby in Denmark, has played in the German Bundesliga for clubs including Freiburg, Augsburg, Schalke, and Hamburg. FC Basel has already made contact with the player. Gregoritsch joined the Danish club in August 2025 and has a contract that runs until June 30, 2028.
