FC Twente have recently made a new contract offer to Indonesian centre-back Mees Hilgers, 24, but there has been no response from Hilgers. Hilgers is not willing to make a counteroffer. Hilgers has an expiring contract and does not want to extend it. For this reason, he has not been part of the match selection all season. Technical director Jan Streuer said that they had certainly expected a counteroffer, but if the player does not want to, it stops, and that they will now wait for the upcoming transfer window to see what happens then. Streuer also confirmed that the door for Hilgers remains slightly open if he wants to negotiate, but noted that the chance is high that he has played his last match for FC Twente.
