Basia Michaels, the agent for 20-year-old South African defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi who plays for Chicago Fire, has confirmed hearing about interest from English clubs Brentford and Nottingham Forest. Michaels is awaiting a more definite proposal and currently regards the interest as rumors. The agent also stated there is interest from clubs in Belgium, Germany, and Italy, and specified that Napoli is monitoring the player closely. However, Michaels clarified that no club has made a formal offer to Chicago Fire. It is said that Chicago Fire are willing to sell the player for a suitable offer from an appropriate club. Mbokazi has 14 caps and one goal for South Africa. He joined the MLS club in January 2026 from Orlando Pirates for a reported fee of €2.5 million, and his current contract is valid until the end of 2029. He has made 12 appearances in the 2025/2026 Major League Soccer season. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €3.5 million.
