A potential return to Serie A with Lazio for 33-year-old Argentinian centre-forward Mauro Icardi did not happen this summer due to a decision by the club and coach Gattuso. Icardi is now reportedly focused on rejoining Galatasaray. The player, whose contract with the Istanbul club ended on June 30, is considering a return. Icardi, who has 8 caps and 1 goal for Argentina, and his representatives have reopened discussions with Galatasaray and have shown a willingness to lower their economic demands to reach an agreement. The player initially requested an annual salary of 3.5 million euros but is now apparently prepared to reduce his request to 2 million, a change motivated by the special bond he and his daughters have with the city of Istanbul. His current market value is €4.00m, according to Transfermarkt. In addition to the interest from Lazio, several other clubs including Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have been recently linked with the forward.
