AS Monaco has signed 23-year-old French striker Matthis Abline from FC Nantes, which was recently relegated to Ligue 2. The clubs agreed on a record transfer fee of 25 million euros, supplemented by 5 million euros in bonuses described as easily attainable. Abline, who has 10 caps and 2 goals for the France U21 team, has signed a five-year contract until June 2031. His contract with Nantes was due to run until 2028, and he had wished to depart the previous summer, but no offers satisfied the club president at the time. Paris FC had previously tried to sign him, but Nantes had set a price of 40 million euros. Galatasaray were also recently associated with the forward. Abline joined Nantes from Rennes in July 2024 for a fee reported to be €10 million. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €20 million.
