Matteo Waem Transfer from ADO Den Haag to FC Groningen
Telegraaf.nl reports there is growing interest from clubs in Waem as his contract, which runs out in June, nears its end. Groningen and other clubs show interest in Waem. He has received an extension proposal from ADO Den Haag, and while he is open to re-signing, a deal is still pending.
FC Groningen, who hold the sixth position in the Eredivisie, and German club Schalke 04 are interested in ADO Den Haag's 25-year-old defender, Matteo Waem. Schalke, which is currently second in the German second division, also considered the Belgian-Italian player during the summer, though a transfer did not materialize at that time. Because Waem's contract expires in June, ADO's technical director Mark Wotte has presented him with an offer to extend it, as the club wants to prevent losing him on a free transfer. Although Waem is open to signing a new contract, an agreement has not been finalized. Waem, who began playing for ADO in July 2023, has made 14 appearances in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie in the current season, contributing one goal and three assists. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €650k.
