Borussia Dortmund has previously resisted interest from clubs, one of which was Paris Saint-Germain. It was reported that PSG attempted to sign 17-year-old American winger Mathis Albert in the summer of 2025 after the club won its first Champions League title. The United States international, who has 4 caps and 1 goal for his country, is under contract until 30/06/2027, and his current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €5.00m. Manchester City and Chelsea have been recently linked with Albert. In October 2026, reports suggested a potential transfer fee of approximately €20 million, while during the summer of 2026, it was reported that multiple top clubs were prepared to pay up to €15 million for the player.
