Matej Šakota, a 21-year-old Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Croatian right winger, is set to continue his career in Qatar. The transfer of the Mostar footballer is almost complete, and the contract signing is considered a formality. The value of the transfer is approximately 300,000 euros. Dejan Šomoci, the sports director for Slaven Belupo, confirmed that the Koprivnica club will receive 40 percent of the total transfer amount. Slaven Belupo will financially benefit from his move to Qatar because Matej Šakota was with the club before he returned to Zrinjski in July 2025. Šakota has been capped six times for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 national team. His contract with Zrinjski was valid until May 2027, and his current Transfermarkt market value is €700k. He made one appearance in the 2025/2026 Premijer Liga BiH season.
