Slovenian forward Matej Poplatnik, 34, has left the current national champions, Celje, and joined second-division side Triglav. The departure followed an indication from Celje's coach, Vitor Campelos, that the player was not in his plans. Poplatnik was also left off the squad list for the Europa League. This transfer is a return for Poplatnik to the club he departed from in 2018. His signing is seen as a signal of Triglav's ambition to return to the top division. Upon his arrival, Triglav stated that they are gaining a proven goalscorer and an experienced footballer who is very familiar with the club, its environment, and the importance of the jersey. The club also welcomed him back home. Poplatnik has been capped once by the Slovenian national team. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €150k.
