Motherwell have signed Austrian centre-half Martin Moormann from Blau-Weiß Linz following their relegation from the country's Bundesliga. The 25-year-old departed the Austrian club despite having two years remaining on his contract. He was an unused substitute for eight of the final nine games of the season. Moormann has agreed to a two-year contract with the Scottish Premiership side, which holds an option for a further year. The transfer is the first signing for new manager Alfred Johansson. Johansson stated that Moormann fits the profile for the left-footed centre-back the team needed. Moormann, who has been capped three times by Austria at U21 level, has a current market value of €400k according to Transfermarkt.
