Ahead of the summer transfer window, Aston Villa is one of several prominent European clubs showing interest in Shakhtar's 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder Marlon Gomes. The English club is ready to sign him, as are fellow Premier League sides Newcastle and Chelsea, and German club RB Leipzig. RB Leipzig's interest is not new, as the club previously attempted to start transfer talks, but Shakhtar was not eager to transfer the player at that time. Gomes, who has been capped five times for Brazil's U23 team, scoring once, joined Shakhtar in January 2024 and has a contract until the end of 2028. In the 2025/2026 Premier Liga season, he made 19 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €12.00m.
