Marlon Freitas, a 30-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder, is set to join Palmeiras from Botafogo. Freitas, who joined Botafogo in January 2023, had received a proposal from Fluminense and also had offers from São Paulo and Al-Wahda from the United Arab Emirates. The agreement with Palmeiras was concluded in less than two days after the player informed Botafogo's owner, John Textor, of his wish to leave in a meeting. His contract with Botafogo was set to expire on 31/12/2026. In December 2025, reports indicated that Palmeiras was preparing a €5 million offer. Separate reports suggested a deal had been agreed for $6 million. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €6 million.
