Mario Götze: Eintracht Frankfurt Contract Extension

Eintracht coach Dino Toppmöller is open to Mario Götze staying, stating that if the player performs as he did recently and in the spring, any coach would be happy to have him. According to 'kicker', initial talks about a new contract are scheduled to take place in the winter.

Eintracht Frankfurt's sporting director, Markus Krosche, told Sky Sports DE that he and Mario Götze have spoken and agreed to meet in the winter. Krosche said they met at the beginning or middle of September and decided to play the first half of the season and then meet for a calm discussion. The sporting director stated there is no rush from either side. Krosche also mentioned the possibility of extending the relationship, saying he believes Götze feels good in Frankfurt and that no one is under pressure. He added that they are happy to have the player and everything else will be clarified in due course.

An extension of Mario Götze's contract, which expires in 2026, is an option for Eintracht Frankfurt under one condition. According to information from 'Bild', the 33-year-old would have to forego large parts of his salary for a new contract. The playmaker is currently one of the top earners at the club with a basic salary of 3.5 million euros plus bonuses. An extension under the current terms is not feasible, as Götze currently no longer holds the role of a regular player. Sports director Markus Krösche recently left the possibility of an extension open, and both sides can still imagine continuing their collaboration.

Markus Krösche stated that a contract extension for Mario Götze, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has not yet been approved. Krösche said that they have now sat down and said they will see that he gets fit and plays for them again, and then they will sit down together every six months. Krösche described Götze as an extremely important player and indicated that the tendency was clearly towards further collaboration recently.

Trainer Dino Toppmöller said on the 'Phrasenmäher' podcast that it would be nice if Mario Götze extended his contract again. He stated that it is a lot of fun working with him and believes they will certainly find solutions if Götze really wants it.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Mario Götze will hold contract talks this winter. The club's sporting director Markus Krösche confirmed at a press conference that they plan to sit down with the midfielder in the winter. Götze's contract expires next summer but has an option for an additional year. There is currently nothing concrete from either side regarding the extension.

German midfielder Mario Götze, 33, is considering staying at Eintracht Frankfurt beyond the current season. He mentioned in an interview with 'Sport Bild' that there is a possibility to extend his expiring contract by one year. He expressed that if it makes sense for both the club and him, he is open to the possibility. He stated, 'If I could create my own contract, it wouldn't end next summer.' According to Transfermarkt, his market value is currently estimated at €4.00m.
