An extension of Mario Götze's contract, which expires in 2026, is an option for Eintracht Frankfurt under one condition. According to information from 'Bild', the 33-year-old would have to forego large parts of his salary for a new contract. The playmaker is currently one of the top earners at the club with a basic salary of 3.5 million euros plus bonuses. An extension under the current terms is not feasible, as Götze currently no longer holds the role of a regular player. Sports director Markus Krösche recently left the possibility of an extension open, and both sides can still imagine continuing their collaboration.

Markus Krösche stated that a contract extension for Mario Götze, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has not yet been approved. Krösche said that they have now sat down and said they will see that he gets fit and plays for them again, and then they will sit down together every six months. Krösche described Götze as an extremely important player and indicated that the tendency was clearly towards further collaboration recently.

Trainer Dino Toppmöller said on the 'Phrasenmäher' podcast that it would be nice if Mario Götze extended his contract again. He stated that it is a lot of fun working with him and believes they will certainly find solutions if Götze really wants it.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Mario Götze will hold contract talks this winter.
