An agreement has been reached between Athletic and Grasshopper for the transfer of 22-year-old Spanish midfielder Manex Guibelalde to the Swiss club. Guibelalde has signed a contract until June 2029, and Athletic reserved a percentage of a future sale as part of the deal. He leaves after one season at Athletic, where he played for the reserve team, Bilbao Athletic. The midfielder had joined from Real Sociedad after his contract expired, following a successful season with their B team. His departure is reportedly influenced by a desire to advance his career, as the midfield position at Athletic is considered to have sufficient players. In the 2025/2026 season, Guibelalde made a combined 99 appearances and scored 10 goals in Spain's lower leagues. He has one cap for the Spain U19 team. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is listed as €200k.
