Maxim Petrov has signed a contract extension with Baltika until 2030. According to Match TV, Petrov stated that he heard about Lokomotiv's interest and that he did not want to leave.

A source familiar with the situation reported to 'Championat' that Lokomotiv Moscow has offered Baltika footballer Maksim Petrov a 3.5-year contract. Lokomotiv Moscow is offering a salary of 2 million rubles per month, in addition to 500 thousand rubles in bonuses. Petrov's side initially insisted on a monthly salary of 6 million rubles but has since lowered their demand to 4 million rubles per month. Negotiations are ongoing.

On 'Radio Zenit', commentator Gennady Orlov stated that Lokomotiv is buying 24-year-old Russian central midfielder Maksim Petrov from Baltika for 100 million rubles. Orlov described Petrov as a very promising player, adding that the transfer fee would allow Baltika to buy a good replacement. He also shared his opinion that Baltika would probably not sell more than one player during the winter. Petrov joined Baltika in January 2025 and has a contract that runs until 2029. In the current Premier Liga season, he has made 14 appearances, with 4 goals and 3 assists. The midfielder has 8 caps and 2 goals for Russia U19. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €1.50m.
