Azerbaijan international Mahir Emreli is set to continue his career at the German club Kaiserslautern. The former Dinamo striker has signed a contract extending until 2028, joining the German second-tier team on a free transfer following his season with Nürnberg, where he impressed by scoring 11 goals in 25 appearances. At Kaiserslautern, Emreli will team up with former Hajduk player Ivan Prtajin, who had signed with the club a few days prior. Emreli's transfer also pays homage to the club's past, as former player Nenad Bjelica, who participated in 65 matches for Kaiserslautern in the early 2000s, had a notable period with the team.
