The player himself verified the reports to Slasknet.com in early August, adding he was unsure of the outcome but would aim to get back into Śląsk's first team if the transfer did not materialize. According to Bartosz Wieczorek of TVP Sport, a switch to Pogoń was indeed imminent, but the deal collapsed at the end of July and has apparently not been revisited. Wieczorek also conveyed that it is now almost certain the defender will remain in Wrocław, with a transfer to another club not being expected. Gerstenstein's contract with Śląsk Wrocław runs until June 30, 2027, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €250k.
