Lukas Michelbrink extends his contract with Hertha until 2029 and is immediately loaned out to Cottbus again. Michelbrink was partly responsible for Energie's promotion to the 2nd division. A move to Hertha next season is still too early, hence the renewed loan to Cottbus, where he is expected to gain more match experience. Hertha's sporting director Benjamin Weber said that the loan has been a complete success so far for Cottbus, for Lukas, and for Hertha BSC. He added that Michelbrink has secured a regular spot there, was part of the team that achieved promotion to the 2nd division, and has developed very well. Weber also said they are pleased that he can continue to gain match experience at a high level in the 2nd Bundesliga next year and that they will continue to closely monitor his development. Michelbrink said that he is very happy to have extended his contract and to remain a Hertha player in the long term. He added that he is now looking forward to gaining further important experiences in a new league in Cottbus.
