SV Ried have signed Lukas Malicsek, a former U21 team player. With his move to the Innviertel, the versatile defender returns to the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. The Vienna native signed a contract valid until 2028, which includes an option for an additional year. After six years with Südstadt, the former U21 international is leaving the club. Wolfgang Fiala, Ried's sporting managing director, said the club had already wanted to sign Lukas Malicsek the previous summer. Fiala stated that Malicsek combines qualities that are of the highest importance for their squad planning. He added that in addition to his technical abilities, the player is very tough in challenges, has a high running capacity, is a 'winner type', and is also very good at set pieces. Malicsek said he followed Ried very closely during the last season and that what the club showed as a promoted team was very impressive. He mentioned that he is familiar with the Bundesliga from his time at Admira, and that with Ried he now wants to play as many matches as possible, have fun, and play in the Bundesliga again.
