Krone.at reports that Luka-Nils Sandmayr is departing from Austria Salzburg. It was officially announced on Friday that the homegrown player will leave the club at the end of the season after 17 years. Sandmayr explained that the second-division club's plans in professional football were not compatible with his job. Several clubs showed interest in the 26-year-old Austrian defensive specialist, and Salzburger Liga leader Grödig has now signed him. The acquisition by the former Bundesliga club means Austria Salzburg will receive a training compensation fee. Sandmayr recently stated that he wants to continue playing at a high level. At Grödig, he will be reunited with Alexander Schwaighofer and Andrej Lazarevic, with whom he played for many years at Austria. His current market value is listed by Transfermarkt as €150k.
