German defender Luca Kerkemeyer, 24, has joined Regionalliga club Rot-Weiß Erfurt from Sportfreunde Lotte. He has signed a contract at Steigerwald until 2028. The defensive player, who was trained in the SC Paderborn youth academy, has made more than 100 appearances in the Regionalliga West. RWE coach Fabian Gerber commented that the two-footed defender brings the qualities they were searching for, noting his high intensity, strength in tackles, and ability to play in central defense as well as on the flanks. Gerber added that Kerkemeyer is willing to take on responsibility and will provide additional defensive options. Kerkemeyer stated that he is proud to be part of the club and is very excited to get started. He joined Sportfreunde Lotte in July 2025 and made 28 appearances in the Regionalliga West during the 2025/2026 season, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
