Lionel Messi recently revealed that Inter Miami will be his final club. Retirement is slowly approaching the 36-year-old.

There was speculation that Messi would return to Argentina after two years in Miami. He has repeatedly emphasized that he wants to play for Newell’s Old Boys from his hometown Rosario once more in his career.

Lionel Messi announced that he will probably end his career at Inter Miami, the club he currently plays for. Messi spent most of his career at Barcelona, playing for the first team from 2003 to 2021. He then moved to PSG and subsequently moved to the MLS league, Inter Miami, last year. Messi currently has a valid contract with the Florida club until the end of 2025.

Lionel Messi will undoubtedly be the main absence that Inter Miami has in these weeks of Copa América, however, other footballers such as Luis Suárez and possibly some other South American players will go to the continental competition, thus leaving Inter Miami somewhat fragmented to face the MLS commitments.

Lionel Messi left PSG for Inter Miami a year ago. He signed a two-year contract until 2025 with Inter Miami and is currently the highest-paid player in the MLS, earning 20.45 million dollars monthly.

Lionel Messi is currently playing for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer after leaving PSG in the summer of 2023. There are speculations about his possible return to Europe.
