Linus Wahlqvist leaving Pogoń Szczecin?

Pogon Szczecin has announced in a statement that the contract of Linus Wahlqvist has been extended. His prior contract was due to expire in a few months, which could have permitted a free transfer at the end of the season. The new agreement is effective until June 30, 2028, and contains an option for an additional 12-month extension. According to Wahlqvist, discussions about continued cooperation quickened after the previous season concluded. He also said that talks regarding the new contract were very easy over the last two weeks and that the candid nature of the discussions made his decision simpler.

Linus Wahlqvist has stated that he is talking with Alex and Tan about his future, adding that they know where they are and that they discuss his situation and the club. His contract expires in mid-2026. Supporters on social media are calling for the club to extend his contract, give him a long-term deal and the captain's armband after Grosicki retires. Some fans suggest the club should overpay to keep him.

In the summer, Swedish teams were interested in signing him.

BK Häcken is reportedly very interested in acquiring Linus Wahlqvist, offering a signing bonus of up to one million euros. The seriousness of the transfer has been corroborated by journalist Przemysław Michalak from Weszlo.com. Despite the offer, Wahlqvist is said to have reservations about returning to his home country at this point in his career. Significant negotiations are anticipated to take place once Pogoń Szczecin undergoes a change in ownership, as the new owner will have the authority to decide on the player's future. Wahlqvist's current contract with Pogoń Szczecin is valid until the end of June 2026.

Jens Gustafsson, the former coach of Pogoń Szczecin and current coach of BK Häcken, is interested in signing Linus Wahlqvist. BK Häcken's management is working on winter reinforcements, and Wahlqvist is among the candidates for transfer. Wahlqvist joined Pogoń Szczecin at the beginning of 2023, transferring from IFK Norrköping for 300,000 euros. His current contract expires on June 30, 2026. As of January, there were media reports of a possible departure, but no transfer has occurred since then.

Linus Wahlqvist is reportedly close to leaving Pogoń Szczecin, with past interest from Greek club Aris Thessaloniki mentioned. Financial issues at Pogoń Szczecin have weakened the club's negotiation strength. The transfer fee is unspecified but expected to be higher than Biczachczian's transfer.

Pogoń Szczecin is facing financial difficulties and might sell Linus Wahlqvist during the winter transfer window. He is a key player for the team, having played 20 matches this season. The information is reported by Łukasz Olkowicz from 'Przegląd Sportowy Onet'.
