Leonardo Bertone, a 32-year-old Swiss midfielder, has left Thun to join Luzern on a free transfer. Thun's coach, Mauro Lustrinelli, also recently left for Union Berlin. Bertone was a key player and vice-captain for Thun, scoring 11 goals in 33 league matches last season. It was anticipated that Bertone would not extend his contract, with the expectation that he would move to a team considered stronger than Luzern, which finished seventh last season. The local newspaper Bernzeitung reported that the transfer indicates Bertone does not believe in another successful season for Thun. The newspaper also noted that he moved to a lower-ranked team instead of clubs such as Basel or Young Boys. According to Swiss media, it will be challenging for Thun to find a replacement for the midfielder. Bertone joined Thun in July 2022 and has 13 caps and one goal for the Switzerland U21 national team. Transfermarkt lists his current market value at €400k.
