Leon-Oumar Wechsel leaving Hannover 96?

Leon-Oumar Wechsel, previously a junior representative of Germany, has completed the formalities for obtaining Polish citizenship. This allows him to play as a Polish player for GKS Tychy and be considered a youth player. The transfer was facilitated by his Polish mother. He joins GKS Tychy on loan from Hannover 96.

Leon-Oumar Wechsel has been loaned from Hannover 96 to GKS Tychy until the end of the season, with an option for GKS Tychy to purchase him permanently. Wechsel, who has been with Hannover 96 for nearly two years, has only played for their U-19 and reserve teams so far. Despite not debuting for the first team, he has trained regularly with them. Wechsel expressed familiarity with Marcel Łubik and Mamin Sanyang, and was encouraged by Łubik to join GKS Tychy.

Hannover 96 is loaning the 20-year-old goalkeeper Leon-Oumar Wechsel to the second division club GKS Tychy for the upcoming season. Additionally, Wechsel has extended his contract with Hannover 96 by one more year until 2027. In the past season, Wechsel played 17 third division games for Hannover's second team. According to 96-Manager Marcus Mann, the loan is to ensure that Wechsel gains regular match practice at a good level, which they see as guaranteed with GKS Tychy.

Leon-Oumar Wechsel is close to a loan move to the Polish second division club GKS Tychy. He is currently the third-choice goalkeeper at Hannover 96, behind Ron-Robert Zieler and Leo Weinkauf. Hannover 96's Sporting Director, Marcus Mann, confirmed that there are loan options for Wechsel, but the final decision will be made in the coming days. Two obstacles remain: securing a playing permit in Poland and extending his contract with Hannover 96, which expires next year, before the loan can proceed.
