Several potential opportunities for Leon Goretzka, including AC Milan, were unsuccessful after his contract expired at Bayern Munich on June 30.

Serie A was considered a likely destination for Leon Goretzka, a 31-year-old German central midfielder and free agent, but interest from the league has reportedly decreased. The German international has 73 caps and 15 goals for his country and a Transfermarkt valuation of €12.00m. Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio mentioned that AC Milan had been linked with the player. Di Marzio also suggested that Goretzka might ultimately move to Turkey, providing the reason that clubs there pay a significant amount for players who are free agents. In addition to the interest from Italy, Beşiktaş, Juventus, and FC Barcelona have also been linked with the player.
