Olympique Marseille attempted to sign Serbian-German attacking midfielder Lazar Samardzić from Atalanta Bergame during the previous summer transfer window. A bid of 20 million euros was reportedly submitted to the Italian club's management, who refused to sell him. The 23-year-old player, who has only played 642 minutes since the beginning of the season, is not in manager Raffaele Palladino's plans and might leave this winter. Samardžić, who has 26 caps and one goal for Serbia, has a contract with Atalanta until June 2029 and has recorded one goal and two assists in 14 league appearances this season. Fiorentina and Lazio have also been mentioned in connection with the midfielder. Atalanta made his move from Udinese permanent in June 2025 by activating a purchase option of around €14.8 million, and his current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €15.00m.
