Footy Belgium reported that Vaesen is leaving Westerlo for OH Leuven, choosing a move within his own country over a transfer to Újpest. At Den Dreef, he hopes to get more playing time and begin a new phase of his career.
Voetbalnieuws.be reports that Kyan Vaesen has moved from KVC Westerlo to OH Leuven and signed a contract until mid-2029. Vaesen had the option to move abroad but chose to stay in Belgium. He was not receiving playing time at KVC Westerlo.
Pieter-Jan Calcoen confirms that OH Leuven will acquire Kyan Vaesen. Vaesen is a Belgian centre-forward who was considered not needed at Westerlo because he was unable to secure a regular starting position. The 24-year-old's chances of playing were further reduced following the arrival of fellow attackers Afonso Patrão and Enis Destan. According to Het Nieuwsblad, Vaesen is set to sign a multi-year contract with OH Leuven. He will be the club's first winter signing and will compete with Kaba and Ikwuemesi for a spot in the attack. In the current Jupiler Pro League season, Vaesen has made 19 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist. He has 2 caps and 1 goal for the Belgium U21 national team, and his current Transfermarkt market value is €700k.
