Borussia Mönchengladbach has announced the signing of Kota Takai, a 2004-born Japanese international central defender, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until June 30, 2026. According to Sporting director Rouven Schröder, Takai is a tall, physically strong, and very fast defender who has the qualities to help the team in the immediate future. Takai, who will wear the number 14, has joined the squad at their training camp in Belek and is scheduled to have his first training session with his new teammates in the afternoon. Takai, who has four caps for Japan, joined Tottenham in July 2025 for a reported fee of €6 million, and his contract with the Premier League club is valid until 2030. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €5.00m.
