Albanian defensive midfielder Klaus Gjasula, 36, and Rot-Weiss Essen have mutually agreed to terminate his contract for apparently family reasons. Gjasula stated that sometimes there are issues that are more important and bigger than football which now need his attention, and that for this reason, he wants to move his center of life closer to the region where he grew up. His new club is already determined and will be announced shortly. Gjasula will remain in the 3. Liga and move to the southwest, where a large part of the families of Gjasula and his wife live. The Albanian international, capped 29 times for his country, made 27 appearances in the 3. Liga in the 2025/2026 season, contributing one goal and two assists.
