According to Evangelos Michos on the 'Hat Trick Show', Kiril Despodov will not continue at PAOK in the summer. PAOK will be open to selling him for a fee estimated at approximately 1.5–2 million euros. There is no basis for a transfer to a Greek competitor, and PAOK does not intend to release him or allow a transfer to a club in Greece, including a major club in Athens. Due to the contract, the decision belongs to PAOK.

Kiril Despodov has also attracted interest from Saudi Arabia.

Bulgarian media report that Kiril Despodov, the captain of the Bulgarian national team, is looking to leave PAOK during the winter transfer window. Although PAOK rejected a proposal from Russia in the summer, Despodov is reportedly unhappy with his substitute role at PAOK and has contacted the Portuguese agency representing him to help find a transfer option outside Greece.
