Hoever also mentioned that he spoke with former Sparta captain Ladislav Krejčí, who provided positive feedback about the club, which influenced his decision to join.

Ki-Jana Hoever spent the autumn part of the last season at Wolverhampton and the spring on loan at Sheffield United. Sparta's sporting director, Tomáš Rosický, said that at the age of 24, Ki-Jana has had varied football experience, regularly playing in the French Ligue 1 or English Championship. Rosický also said he trained at the academies of Ajax and Liverpool, which he described as environments where players learn to want to win from a young age. He added that Hoever brings speed, strength, technical quality and courage to play forward to their right side. According to the sporting director, Hoever is used to a physical style of play from his previous engagements and is not afraid of challenges. Rosický stated that they believe he will show his great potential with them and help the team win.
