Offensive player Kasper Paananen, who is capable of playing as both a midfielder and a forward, has joined Kalmar FF on a loan from the Finnish club SJK. The deal is for the remainder of the season and includes an option to buy. Kalmar FF's sporting director, Mats Winblad, stated that the club had wanted the 23-year-old during the winter and have now found a good solution, and also described Paananen as a smart player and a good finisher. Paananen stated he was aware of Kalmar's long-standing interest and that it was very important to him that the club demonstrated their belief in him. An injury Paananen arrived with was found to be more significant than initially thought, which will delay his debut for a few weeks. This factor also caused the transfer process to be prolonged. The Finnish international has one cap for his country and joined SJK in January 2024 with a contract extending until October 2027. He has made 16 appearances in the 2025/2026 Veikkausliiga season, during which he scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €500k.
