Julian Weigl leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach?

Julian Weigl is expected to leave Borussia Mönchengladbach and is reportedly on the verge of a move to Al Qadsiah.

Borussia Mönchengladbach's manager, Roland Virkus, stated that Julian Weigl was not included in the squad for a match against Hamburger SV due to ongoing discussions with another club. It was a mutual decision between the club and Weigl to keep him out of the squad. The summer transfer window in the Bundesliga remains open until September 1, providing time for a potential agreement.

Kicker reports on Julian Weigl's potential move away from Borussia Mönchengladbach. Julian Weigl is reportedly leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach after nearly three years. The defensive midfielder was not included in the squad for the home game against Hamburger SV and was released by the club for talks regarding a possible transfer. He is reportedly set for a move to Saudi Arabia.

Julian Weigl has been removed as vice-captain and is also not part of the team council anymore. He did not play in the first official match of the season, sitting on the bench for 90 minutes. His starting position at Gladbach seems to be lost. Coach Gerardo Seoane mentioned that the competition for positions is very tight and based on weekly training performances. Weigl's situation could lead to a potential club change if he remains on the bench at the start of the Bundesliga season.

Bild reports on the uncertain future of Julian Weigl at his current club. Julian Weigl, who was a regular starter under coach Gerardo Seoane, is at risk of becoming a reserve player. He spent 90 minutes on the bench during the cup game against Delmenhorst. A premature transfer for Weigl is not ruled out, especially after he parted ways with his agency 'Sports360' this summer.

Julian Weigl is reportedly in negotiations with Al Shabab FC. He is currently contracted with Borussia Mönchengladbach until 2028, but due to his changed role and being one of the top earners, the club might consider letting him leave. The report comes from the Saudi sports newspaper 'Okaz Sports'.

According to LAOLA1, despite recent rumors from 'Sky' linking Julian Weigl with FC Red Bull Salzburg, the Austrian club is not interested in the 29-year-old German player. Weigl is currently under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach until the summer of 2028, and was previously acquired from Benfica in the summer of 2023 for around 7.2 million euros. Transfermarkt currently estimates his market worth at 6.00 million euros.
