After a start at Hertha where the 27-year-old Croatian winger recorded three goals and two assists in eight games, Josip Brekalo is being considered by Schalke as an acquisition should the club achieve promotion to the Bundesliga. The Croatian international has 35 caps and four goals for his country. He made 14 goalless appearances in LaLiga in the first half of the 2025/2026 season before joining his current club in February 2026. His contract expires on June 30, 2026, and his market value is currently €2.50m, according to Transfermarkt.
