Málaga is considering signing José Marsà, a 24-year-old Spanish central defender from KV Mechelen. The club's sporting director, Loren Juarros, is looking for defenders as a contingency because of fitness concerns regarding Álex Pastor and Diego Murillo. This is despite the club having previously considered its defense complete after signing Fernando Calero and renewing Einar Galilea's contract. Marsà, who came from the FC Barcelona academy, has a contract with the Belgian club until 2027. KV Mechelen considers him a key player and would only permit a transfer, not a free departure. Because the defender is entering his final contract year, his price could be significantly lower. Málaga is considering a deal that could be valued at approximately one million euros. Marsà is not the only player being considered, as Carlos Domínguez of RC Celta is also being considered by the club. Trabzonspor and FC Köln have also shown interest in the player. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated to be €3.50m. Reports in June/July 2026 suggested KV Mechelen's asking price was €3.5 million. In June 2026, it was reported that FC Köln was hoping to finalize a deal for slightly less than €1.5 million. Marsà joined Mechelen from FC Andorra in July 2024 for a reported fee of €160,000.
