RCD Espanyol has made official the departure of José Luis Catalá, the 21-year-old captain of their reserve team, who is signing for Sabadell. The central defender is joining a club that has been promoted to Segunda División, where he previously played on loan during the 2021-22 season. Espanyol's statement announced a transfer agreement with CE Sabadell. However, Mundo Deportivo had previously explained that the parties agreed to terminate Catalá's contract, an arrangement that allows Espanyol to retain a percentage of a future sale. Catalá's move concludes a seven-year period at Espanyol, and he signs with Sabadell for two seasons, until 2028.
