According to Posta Deportes, Roma made the most significant attempt for Johan Vasquez, had been in talks for the player since before the World Cup, and came closest to reaching an agreement. However, a change in Roma's sporting structure after sporting director Frederic Massara left his post altered the club's transfer priorities. The deal for Vasquez was then discontinued, and as a result, the player remained at Genoa.

Roma showed interest in acquiring Johan Vásquez, but Genoa is preparing to renew his contract until 2028 to retain him.

Johan Vásquez, a central defender for Genoa, is being pursued by AS Roma to strengthen their defense for the 2025-26 season. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, negotiations between the two clubs have started, but they are still in the preliminary phase, with no formal offer made yet. Vásquez has established himself as a key player for Genoa since joining Italian football in 2021, experiencing both relegation and promotion with the team. He is currently focused on the Gold Cup 2025 with the Mexican National Team, which could influence his future in European football.
