Rangers have reportedly identified the 20-year-old as a primary target for the January transfer window and have sent scouts to watch the Norway U21 international, for whom he has 6 caps, on multiple occasions. It is reported that the club has now increased its efforts to finalise a transfer, with new boss Danny Rohl having a strong interest in bringing the player to Ibrox. Hjerto-Dahl's reported valuation is €6 million, and his contract with Tromso is due to expire in 2027. In December 2025, reports suggested that Tromsø was seeking a fee of around £3.5 million (approximately €4.1 million) for the player.
