Jefferson Savarino Transfer from Botafogo to Corinthians
Jefferson Savarino, a 29-year-old Venezuelan midfielder, quickly rejected proposals from both Corinthians and São Paulo because he did not want to leave Rio de Janeiro. This preference has made a potential move to Fluminense more viable, as he would not need to relocate. Negotiations are underway between Botafogo and Fluminense for a deal for Savarino to join Fluminense in 2026, with Botafogo receiving a monetary sum and the midfielder Wallace Davi. The main obstacle to the transfer, however, is Savarino's strong identification with Botafogo, where he is considered an idol. The Venezuelan international, who has 51 caps and 4 goals for his country, joined Botafogo in January 2024, and his contract is valid until the end of 2028. His current Transfermarkt market value is €9.00m. His last transfer was in January 2024 from Real Salt Lake to Botafogo for a fee of €2.5 million, while in March 2025, an agreed-upon transfer to Lyon for a reported €7.6 million was not completed.
