Jan Bořil, the 35-year-old long-time captain of Slavia Praha, has officially joined Slovan Liberec. At a press conference, Bořil expressed his disappointment with how the club he served for ten years handled his departure, stating he had already been exploring other options because he suspected this outcome. He explained that just before a training camp, he was offered a role in the B-team, which he immediately refused. Following this, the coaches informed him he was not part of their plans for the A-team. Bořil said that when he asked assistant coach Zdeněk Houštecký for a reason, he was informed there was a concern he would create a negative atmosphere in the dressing room if he were not playing. After being told he was no longer wanted, he chose the move to Liberec, where he is motivated to help the team reach European competitions. The centre-back has 31 caps for the Czech Republic and a current market value of €100k, according to Transfermarkt. In the 2025/2026 Chance Liga season, he made 22 appearances, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist.
